Born and raised in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, Ammi is an artist, illustrator and art teacher, founder of Ammi Art Studio. She holds three different Diplomas: in Teachers and Trainers, Fine Art and Technology-Building. She  won the Honorable mention for the Philip Morris Art Awards in 2000 and  has participated in numerous exhibitions since then. She finds inspiration in creating artworks from daily experience and belief. Art has taught her to appreciate the beauty of creation, nature and diversity of cultures. She likes watercolour and enjoys using images to tell stories. In 2006 she started picture book illustration, her 1st picture book “Am i good enough?”, in 2018 she focus on local nature topic, such as aboriginal and wildlife conservation, been published 13 picture books, named “Anak Murid yang Memakai Kain Cawat”, “I Belong to the Forest”, “A seahorse story” , “A friend of dusky langur” etc.“Anak Murid yang Memakai Kain Cawat”, “I Belong to the Forest”, “A seahorse story”  been selected in IBBY Malaysia Honor list 2021
